In brief..
GURUGEDARA HERTAGE is an unusually exciting tourist resort with cultural and historical background beginning from the era of British empire days of Sri Lanka. Its legendary memory concurs with the rise of Palliyaguru family famed for being traditional marriage registrars. N.P.G.Lantis Silva (Justice of the peace and Marriage Registrar) and his wife who were pioneers of exporting Sri Lankan coconut fiber products, built this beautiful and impressive house eight decades ago in a natural green surrounding at walking distance to beach and Buddhist shrines. The present inheritor, Manimala Palliyaguru, the youngest of the family, has now converted this residential villa into a tourist resort with traditional Sri Lankan hospitality and native medical services.
Beliwatta, the village where you find the GURUGEDARA HERTAGE is in an unpolluted typical semi-urban area which provides access to many culturally significant places of tourist interest. For instance, Veherahena, Wavurukannala, Devinuvara and Mulkirigala are some easily accessible sites with historical and cultural monuments where traditional rituals that local Buddhists perform still continue. Seetagalla beach and Hiriketiya beach are two exciting beach marvels not to be seen easily elsewhere by tourists.
At the resort one may obtain Ayurvedic and traditional native medical treatments for chronic health problems with constant compassionate care typical of eastern medical practice. Even guidance for traditional Yoga and Buddhist meditation could be arranged for interested guests.
Inquiries are welcome from the visitors who would like to enjoy calm and serene joy of staying at an unusual traditional holiday resort with a unique tradition of Sri Lankan hospitality.
